Damselfly's second album is the EP a different spring, featuring two works by our dear friend, the composer/cellist/improviser Alfred Zimmerlin, setting poetry by the wonderful multi-lingual poet Ingrid Fichtner. This album releases on July 31, 2026, and can be heard and obtained on our bandcamp page!
After Lindsay arranged Zimmerlin's Aufgang's original guitar part for concert harp, we enjoyed playing Aufgang many times. He then wrote Alimondoj for us during the dark years of isolation in 2020-2021, and we are grateful for his creative spirit - finding beauty and joy even in uncertain times. Ingrid Fichtner is quite a special poet - she writes evocatively both in German and English, and her poetry inspires wonder and awe in meditation of the world around us. Recording these works in between passes of a neighbor's tractor in Lottstetten-Nack, Germany in October 2023 at Acustica Studio is a fond memory - as is the Wildsaison meal we shared as a team with our recording engineer Mario Bruderhofer at the Gasthof zum Kranz! |
